DESCRIPTION: France, figural mantel clock "La Cruche Cassee" or the broken jug, shaped red marble case with gilt paw feet and side ornaments, gilt dial surround, gilt bezel with beveled glass, top with patinated female figure carrying a damaged jug, leaking its contents, the base with engraved plaque "La Cruche Cassee par Francois Moreau", Arabic numeral white enamel dial, blued steel hands, 8 days, time and strike, pendule a Paris movement, c1900
CONDITION: Marble with some glue and fill repairs and now with coat of lacquer, top reshaped to eliminate chips, gilt hardware now painted gold, gaps between case and feet, rear left foot with broken ornament, figure with restoration to surface, figure repositioned on base, dial with hairlines and chip, hands painted black, movement ticks and strikes, Despite some cosmetic negatives, it is overall an attractive clock.
